As a brand working with integrity, we are committed to maintain a responsible and sustainable focus throughout our value chain. We practice by setting high ethical standards and by paying attention to mindful manufacturing.
Do one thing and do it good. This mantra has always been an integrated part of Rains’ way of operating our business, as well as it applies to our design thinking. With our permeating minimalist philosophy, it is far from natural for us to overdo, as in overdesigning or overproducing excessive quantities to do sale that eventually ends their life in landfills. When we design, we try to make sure every Rains product already has a home by keeping our product range relevant to the consumer.
We work with few, close manufacturing partners in order to build valuable partnerships that contributes to good quality, dialogue, sharing of knowledge and responsible development. Rains takes pride in the long-term relationships we have built, and we are proud to partner with professional, ethical factories that produce high-quality products in safe working conditions.
While we value a dialogue-based supplier relationship, we find ethical audits to be a useful tool in gaining insight in our production. The audits help us to understand how our manufacturing partners work and identify potential risk areas. Our audits are conducted by specialist third-party auditors carefully selected by amfori BSCI – the leading global business association for open and sustainable trade. Going beyond monitoring, we engage in training and education programmes to support our suppliers’ efforts in meeting Rains’ expectations.
As a member of amfori BSCI, we have adhered to the BSCI Code since our first operations. Moving forward, Rains has committed to implement UN’s universal and international agreed upon minimum standard for responsible business behavior. We do this to promote cooperation, dialogue and a strong risk culture throughout the supply chain. The core of the minimum standard is based on respecting human rights, protecting the environment and countering corruption in a systematically maintained risk management system within a protect, respect and remedy framework. The minimum standard builds upon UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights and OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises.
